This release is a minor update, but hopefully a helpful one. Bundled with the application now are over 6000 trivia questions to give you inspiration when creating your Quizzes. All you have to do is drag them into one of your Rounds.
A bit late posting this, but version 1.5.0 is now in the App Store.
v1.5.0 brings one new game, a way of re-using Quiz questions, and some general background improvements.
You can now host your own Karaoke night, and let your guests belt out some bangers. The software supports MP4 and CDG files, which you need to provide yourself.
There is now a feature in Quiz Management that lets you re-use Rounds and Questions that you have already created. From the new section at the bottom of the screen drag an existing round into quiz, or drag a question into a round.
This morning I was notified that v1.4.0 has been approved for the App Store and should be available within the next couple of days (or hours depending on how busy they are).
v1.4.0 brings two new games to Games Night and a slight modification to another.
Hangman bring the popular Pen and Paper game to Games Night. Choose a random word from the provided 4 – 14 letters words, or enter your own. Selected from either 6 or 12 guesses.
Wacky Racers bring another race style game to Games Night this time with 10 different cartoon style runners that can race in 9 different environments. Don’t fancy racing 9 snails, then why not pick and mix the runners to make it more fun.
Horse race borrows some of the new features from Wacky Racers such as parallax background and an updated race progress bar.
It is now easier to hold race nights. Along with being able to name the horses, you can now also added an Owner and Jockey name to each horse allowing greater customisation and allocation of prizes.
The screen that shows the runners has been updated to make it look more like a race card to make the game more immersive. There are now more variants of horse names, and there are also default names for the Owners and Jockeys if you don’t want to set these values.
This release brings the use of buzzers out of experimental mode and you can now use unto 4 PlayStation Buzz! controllers with your quizzes.
This release also includes:
- Improved preset support
- Using video clips in questions
- General bug fixes and tweaks
This release focuses around the ability to have ‘On the Buzzer Rounds’ within a quiz. While buzzers are an experimental feature currently within the software, with this release it will become a documented feature.
The goal at the moment is to allow you to plug up to four PlayStation© Buzz! controllers to your computer, allowing up to 16 people to participate in the quiz.
I’ve just started on this work with the aim to release it probably sometime in December.
I’ve clicked the button to release Games Night to the App Store. Hopefully it will become visible with the next 24hrs.
After almost 5 days of waiting (trust me it seems a lot longer) I received notification this morning that Games Night is now ready to be released into the App Store. I will be ticking the box sometime today to make it available, and hopefully within 24hrs it should be discoverable.
So the big day has finally arrived. Games Night has been upload to App Store Connect, and has been submitted for review. Hopefully those nice people at Apple won’t find anything wrong with it and I can make it available for purchase in the macOS App Store in the near future.
I’m still waiting my payment details to be approved, but hopefully that will all go through before I get the chance to put it live.
So after what seems like a lifetime, though it’s only been two years (on and off) I’ve finally got a hopefully stable and bug free release of the software to submit to the macOS app store this weekend. Hopefully if all goes well it will be available to the public about a week or so after that. My fingers are crossed which explains any typos’ 🙂
